Three Months Without Plastic

A family in Kanata went Plastic Free for 3 whole months. If you think about how much plastic you use in one day, one week… one year (!!) that’s a lot of wasted plastic. Even if you recycle there is a lot of packaging involved with your day to day life.

National Film Board movies, free on your computer!

Have you ever had one of those times when the stars align and the universe makes sense and the sun shines warmly upon you? This time I speak of is the moment you find something really awesome, that was hidden from you…. well maybe I am going overboard here. The day I realized I could watch NFB movies online for free was an awesome day in my house. The first one I watched was about tobacco farms in the 1950′s (I grew up in tobacco country and worked in it for 8 summers). I have watched many movies since. I really like scanning through the decades to see what sort of film was being produced at the time. Some of the titles make me laugh too. It’s interesting to see the progression as our country lived through WWII and grew at a massive rate, to the present, all on film. On one side of the spectrum, you have a view of a glorious future, a future waiting to be built out of our country’s massive resources. The movies from the present present a totally opposite view, one of restraint and “what if’s”.

I would implore you to make use of this free content!!!!

Here is a short documentary to get you started, Class Project: The Garbage Movie. How fitting :)
